Dell Optiplex GX620, BSOD, and Windows XP 64-bit

So at work I have a Dell Optiplex GX620 with Windows XP Pro 64-bit w/SP2.

For the 2nd time in 3 months the machine has started to blue screen of death on me at boot up. Last time I had to reinstall everything on the machine to resolve the issue.

I tried downloading drivers from Dell. Their ftp server is misconfigured and causes errors when accessing an ftp:// url via Firefox or IE. I have to use a third party ftp client to get the files. Even worse is that none of the drivers provided by Dell have been updated since 2006.

The machine is still under Dell warranty so my work may just make a Dell tech come out and fix it. Sad thing is they will probably just OS the machine again and most likely sometime afterward the problem will just occur again.

Maybe I could talk my work into letting me build my own computer. One that actually works with a 64-bit OS.

If you're looking for a solution to this good luck. Another newer Dell model at my work has even worse problems with 64-bit OS. Just poor hardware driver support really. Maybe you should consider VMWare 64-bit hosting a 64-bit Guest Windows OS. I am right now.
